Graham Manvell is an internationally awarded chef, world renowned culinary judge and an inspiring entrepreneur with incredible passion.


As a long term restaurateur and a background in hotel ownership, Graham has experience in most facets of development of restaurants, accommodation and franchising.


Graham started his apprenticeship in Australia and has worked around the globe. Career highlights include working in the London Savoy, the Sebel Townhouse Elizabeth Bay, Mount Lofty House and Powerhouse International.


Graham was the founding Secretary of the Australian Culinary Federation and a Director of the NSW Restaurant and Caterers Association.


Graham successfully competed on the Australian Culinary Olympic team on 3 continents. A member of the highest-ranking Australian team to compete in the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Graham won a gold medal in the coveted "Restaurant of Nations" section. He has also won prestigious international medals in Germany, Luxembourg and Singapore and has over thirty National Culinary Competition medals.


In 1990, Graham and his wife Marlene established the fine dining establishment ‘Jumbuck Cottage’ in Tamworth NSW. The restaurant was awarded ‘Best Modern Australian Restaurant’ by the Restaurant & Catering Association.


In 1996, the Manvells acquired Ashby House, a boutique accommodation hotel with 21 rooms and food & beverage operated by the couple.


In 1993 the Manvells started their successful sSs BBQ Barn steakhouse and soon after expanded across Australia through a franchise model into a chain of 8 restaurants, locations include Brisbane and Tamworth. The restaurant won the ‘Best Themed Restaurant’ award at the National Restaurant & Catering Australia Awards of Excellence for three years running.


The restaurant franchise has a true ‘paddock to the plate’ concept which is complemented by farm to table produce from the Manvell’s own vineyards (Kitty Crawford Estate and Lazy Poet Wines), brewery (Ironbark Brewery) and a buffalo farm situated in the beautiful Dungowan Valley near Tamworth. These venues supply the restaurants pasture grown pure-bred Dexter beef, buffalo, lamb, goat, pork, herbs, smoked goods, beer and wine.
